Sustainability at Mau & Mittelmann

As a family-run company, we assume ecological, social and economic responsibility every day - for our employees, our customers and the environment in which we live and work.

Focus on sustainability: solutions for today and tomorrow

Mau & Mittelmann has been at home in the wind power industry for over 20 years. With core material kits for wind turbines, we contribute to the energy transition and rely on innovative technologies to make a sustainable contribution to the future. In doing so, we not only focus on the efficiency of our products, but also on conserving valuable resources.

Sustainability is deeply rooted in our work. We aim to continuously improve our processes and increase the use of sustainable materials such as recycled PET foam and FSC-certified balsa wood. Our responsibility extends not only to our customers, but also to our employees and the environment in which we live and work.

Living sustainability

Ecovadis confirms: We are among the 5% of the most sustainable companies assessed by Ecovadis. This award stands for our commitment to transparency and sustainability in all areas. We are also certified to ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management), which underlines our high standards of quality and environmental protection.

We keep an eye on our environmental impact - from energy consumption and waste volumes to kilometers traveled. These analyses form the basis for sustainable improvements. We obtain 100% of our electricity from renewable energy sources, and in winter we use the waste heat from our machines to heat our buildings. These are just a few examples of how we optimize our processes in order to act responsibly and conserve resources. These measures help us to make a contribution to a future worth living today.

Sustainable materials

At Mau & Mittelmann, we use recycled PET foam, which is made from recycled plastics, including old PET bottles. These foams offer stability and lightness and are often an economically attractive alternative to conventional materials. At the same time, they help to reduce waste and conserve valuable resources.

Another example of our sustainable materials is FSC-certified wood balsa, which comes from responsible forestry. This wood helps to protect forests and promote biodiversity without compromising on quality.

These examples illustrate our commitment to sustainable and economical solutions that meet our customers' requirements.

Employees who drive our vision forward

Our employees are at the heart of our success. We attach great importance to ensuring that every team member can develop personally and professionally. We actively encourage and support them to take on responsibility and grow in their own areas of responsibility.

Kaizen and personal development

At Mau & Mittelmann, we see change as an opportunity for continuous development. The principles of Kaizen - also known as the continuous improvement process (CIP) - are firmly anchored in our corporate culture. Our motto “Change the good for the better” shapes our daily actions and motivates us to constantly look for new ways to optimize processes and grow together.

Our focus is not only on optimizing work processes, but also on developing the personal potential of each individual. Through regular training and coaching, we help our employees to develop their skills and perform at their best. We see ourselves as a community that encourages and strengthens each other to become a little better every day.

This philosophy not only promotes innovation and efficiency in our company, but also strengthens individual growth and personal development - a key component of our long-term success.

Social commitment: Building the future.

Since 2008, we have been supporting a vocational school in the Tanzanian village of Ngaruma, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Together with our business partners, friends and acquaintances, we support the local kindergarten and the “Vocational Training Center” with expertise as well as financial and material resources. The school trains around 120 pupils in the trades of carpentry, bricklaying, tailoring, electricity and car mechanics. In addition to Matthias and Sabine Mau, our employees are also regularly on site to experience the progress directly and play an active role in shaping it.
